
Staff Counselors
Roberto Olivero, PhD is a psychologist with 20 years experience at the Men's Resource Center. His specialties include domestic violence, men's issues and the special interests of gay men.
Paul Lee, LCSW has been with the Men's Resource Center since 1987. His areas of specialty include domestic violence intervention for men and healing for men who were sexually abused as children. He also provides counseling for a variety of other mental health and personal growth issues with individuals and couples.
Julie A. Kingsland MSW received her Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University in 2003. She volunteered as a Trauma Counselor for the Veteran's Administration for three years and has experience in individuals, couples, family and group counseling. She was an employee of the Oregon Department of Corrections for over five years and has worked with sex offenders and their partners. She specializes in medical social work and has developed the Medical Empowerment Program to assist persons facing the challenges of chronic and disabling health conditions. She works with domestic violence offenders and offers individual and couples counseling in a variety of areas including crisis management, trauma and personal growth.
Janet Martin, LPC assists clients in violence intervention, supporting victims of domestic violence, helping people with relationship and family issues, and anxiety and depression. She has experience in helping people with workplace issues.
Dean Camarda has been facilitating men's Batterer Intervention groups for over 3 1/2 years. Previously he worked in a youth/adolescent behavioral modification program at Boy's Town in Nebraska. As an experienced television/video producer, Dean has produced numerous programs and video projects including some PSA's for the Bradley-Angle House. His latest video project titled It's Your Choice, is a presentation similar to a Victim's Impact Panel, featuring five women and two sibling youth discussing their experiences with domestic violence. It's Your Choice is currently in distribution and used by a number of Batterer's Intervention Program counselors and agencies. Dean has plans to develop additional video productions for Batterer's Intervention Program clinic use and facilitator training.
Slade Watts, LCSW, CADC III has worked in a variety of social work settings gaining experience with a wide breadth of people and clinical concerns for over ten years. He has worked successfully with adults and adolescents; individuals, couples, families, and in groups. Some of his area of expertise include working with dual-diagnosis (alcohol and drug and mental health concerns co-occurring),troubled adolescents, and family therapy. Slade has been providing domestic violence intervention at MRC since 2007.
Mark Amoroso, M.A. graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a Masters Degree in Community Counseling in 2009. He has been facilitating domestic violence intervention groups since 2008. In addition, he works with individuals and couples for a wide variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and relationship conflict.
Melinda Sherman, CADC III, NAADAC II, is the director of the dual-focus Substance Abuse & Violence Intervention program and has worked in the addictions field for the last 16 years. Her areas of specialty include program development, supervision, and working with clients who are mandated to treatment. She has provided parent education and parent/kids sessions for the last 16 years with programs such as Strengthening Families, Kids Turn, and Partners in Parenting as well as other parenting curriculum. Melinda facilitates groups at MRC for clients who have both substance abuse and batterers intervention needs.
